If it's a Grabow, does it have one of those split aluminum bayonets? If so, can't you just pinch the bayonet closed a little to reduce the tension on the mortise?
i don't think there is that much play, i doubt that would work without bending the metal out of shape

thanks, i assume you mean the surface of the metal tenon. strange thing is the length of the tenon is fine, it is only when tightly inserted that it sticks

I've had the other issue , which is loose . I have a buffer and if I had it tight like that , I'd try buffing some carnuba on it . If you dont have as buffetr r carnuba .. you could use parafin wax , like from a plumbers candle , and just rub the candlle on it lightly and see if that helps . I'd be...
