Re: Lot 2 - Pipes For Sale

Love those stems & the ferrules are a nice touch, especially the white/mother-of-pearl on the first pipe.
Funny how a small detail like that can really add to a pipes appeal.

Re: A run down on the MB 7 Seas line

The 7Seas Red is interesting. Having other tobaccos I ignored this one for a while. When I first opened the tin, the cherry smell was sour like a maraschino cherry. Coming back to it a few months later it seems to have mellowed. I like this one a lot. The 7Seas Royal is so nice that I smoked several...

Re: Zippo 'pipe' lighters.

I also use the pipe insert. It helps keep the flame off the rim of the bowl. That's a good point. I've realised that when I use a Bic, I need to pull the flame away in-between puffs because when I hold it at the bowl, the flame licks the rim. With the Zippo, the flame directs upwards through the ho...

Re: Common House Hold Items for Pipe Racks

https://i.imgur.com/7Hi7Q4y.jpg Kerns bakery bread crate . Excellent idea. It looks good too. Considering how light most pipes are, my concern that holding like that might put some strain/pressure on the shank is probably unfounded. None-the-less, I'd affix rubber stoppers for the bowls to sit on j...

Re: Reamers

Just got the Castleford reamer in the mail today and gave it a spin(no pun intended) on a few pipes. I think I now understand why a lot of folks end up with a Buttner, Senior, and Castleford set. The Castleford, by design, has a set reaming shape which is great if you have pipes with that exact cha...

Re: Show Us Your Rack

If I ever find one cheap I'd probably buy one. I think I'd want one big enough for all my pipes and for it to hang on the wall. I was looking at some online since this thread started and they ain't cheap! No, they're not cheap. Even 2nd hand ones. I was lucky enough to score a 12 pipe stand that wa...

New pipes ......

G'day everyone. Recently I've been unwell. As part of my therapy I've been buying some new pipes to cheer myself up .......... er I mean much needed for my rotation. An old German pipe shop, that was established at the turn of the last century, shut recently & their old stock is being sold. I di...

Re: Becks Ol' Limey Bastard (I think)

Bo'LB really does stink bad, but, it didn't taste anything like it smells. I've been reading that many smokers, like Rev.Tom, like mild English blends but don't like Lat-bombs. Many say it's an acquired taste. This got me thinking. Tobacco is so expensive here (Another tax increase has raised a 50g t...

Re: Daughters and Ryan Website---Not Good

To me, this is crazy, but it seems to be the way the pipe tobacco industry is going. Slowly petering out and dying, not with a bang or even a whimper----just fading away and not even doing it gracefully. You've all read me complain about the outrageous cost of tobacco here in Aus.; recently I was r...

Re: Burley; what do you recommend for a 'newbie'?

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm afraid that 'the man' has intercepted a pound of baccy & is asking for $538 in duty. My next order of just 2 tins has also been pounced on, so I need to find a new way to fly under the radar. At least I got several pounds through that will keep me going for a whi...
