Now you know why people who lose their thumbs get the big toe transplant
Even in spite of not having a big toe and the loss of balance it provides
Better that that not having a thumb

I represented a few people who had the procedure done, and the big toe makes for a fair/decent thumb
Most of the time it works out well
Good function
Decent enought aesthetics
Wear socks/shoes and no one notice as a general matter

Felt bad for the one fellow I represented who's big toe did not take as a thumb
So no big toe and no thumb

Sitting in my modified power Lazyboy awaiting a fresh breakfast of coffee and pancakes from Christine's kitchen as I read and post here. We have visitors this weekend, who haven't yet awoken. Looking forward to a nice, long postprandial smoke after syrup/butter-fest... maybe SWR... under the pergola-spangled sunlight to warm my chilled bones.

Our sleeping visitors were up at 0200 yesterday to go to work, then travel here afterwards, so they need it. They just came into the room, drawn by the fragrance of coffee and cake. Later.

I'm supposed to be workin', but I spent my day off workin'...so I'm not workin' today. I'm sittin' here in the den, drinkin' coffee, enjoying muh pipes.
