I'll never buy a cap with a snap on it.
I'm not against the idea of the brim being sewn to the top of the crown but I like to shape a hat as I like it, which is why I prefer newsboy when I'm not wearing a fedora. Mostly, I wear a fedora.
It's just too hard to find a newsboy without a snap. I own one. It's leather. I always think of the sewn, body to brim in front caps, as driving caps. My grandfather liked them but I never have. Never.
I like the kind of hat that gets me a free bowl of soup.
I also think a pipe looks better with a fedora than with a cap, berets excluded. If you can pull off wearing a beret, you are in esteemed company. YMMV.

A bit of wisdom quoted from an Amazon review written by a lady who bought a hat for her husband:
"Only a long sculpted face can wear a narrow brim well. A hat brim should not be lesser than the widest part of your face."
Amen, sister. You are preaching to the choir here!

I like my pork pie, fedora and flat cap, but I have to agree with B, no snap on the cap.

I claim that a fat faced guy can pull off the pork pie hat and a driving cap. Also agree, no snaps.
We are getting lazy in our old age. Usually this would have called for a poll. Straighten up and fly right!

You’d probably make us write a 1000 word essay on it! LolJTWilliams wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:42 amJust me or could this be a great still from some 70s grindhouse flick? I have my favorite fedora that I love. I've had it for over 15 years now. Only drawback is some guy wore a similar hat in a movie and people call me illinois or something when I wear it. Especially if I wear it with my A2 jacket. It's waterproof, crushable and it keeps my head warm without being too hot. I also have a few flat caps spray with water repellent that I like for rainy days. I had a nice Irish twead hat I got in Blarney, but it's been missing in action for a long time. Booney hats never seem to fit my large head. .I don't worry about what it looks like, just if I like it.
