The best Falafel joint in America is Mamoun's Falafel on McDougal St. in Manhattan. I cannot verify this because I'm highly allergic to Sesame and I never ate a Falafel in my life nor can I but, this is what I've gathered over the many years I've lived in the city.

I'm a fan. There's a guy with a trailer here. It's a big thing in Austin, kitchens built in literal trailers that you can pull around with a truck and move to a different location if need be. Anyway one of my favorites is called "Halal Time" and they make the best and freshest falafel I've ever had. I eat pretty much anything under the sun or water for that matter. It's a side effect of being Cajun.
"Good enough" is a false idol. Beware those that preach its virtue.

As much as I love everything on MacDougall Street, I made some good memories there back in the day, the best falafel in the U.S.A. is the Mamoun's Falafel in New Haven, Connecticut. Better atmosphere. A short ride from the train station at the end of the Metro North Commuter Line from Grand Central Station to New Haven. A nice place to finish up a night of revelry. Good falafel, and good stewed fava beans, too.

Good times.... The McDougal street location was always packed with artsy types and every sort of nightlife seeker you could imagine. I always had fun in that part of town. You go there now and you want to leave immediately, very uppity.
