So I went by the tank auction yesterday at the military base to see what they have, this pandemic has people doing some things and I figured I too should rethink my safety incase of an invasion. So I decided that I'm going to demolish my house and park my new 3rd generation M1 on the rubble and move the family in, It's kinda small and doesn't have a bathroom but the tiny homes are definitely a trend these days too so I kill two birds with one stone. A few loading/unloading drills with m'lady and we're good to go.

will run dirty and keep going
will run any ammo
availability of cheap Russian steel cased ammo
great penetration, hiding behind a car won't help you with 7.62x39
very accurate out to somewhere between 200-300 yards
very simple design, breaking down an AK is a lot like breaking down a 1911, there's nothing to them
pedigree, used in combat all over the globe since 1947
they also just have a "feel" to them, like everything about an AK is somehow the way it's supposed to be
Very cool! Thanks for the info. 😊

Ok, now that I have ordered the tank and awaiting it's arrival it's got me thinking about something more light weight and portable, something fast that could be operated remotely. The notion of trying to shoot the bad guys when they are hiding behind objects to me just sounds hard to do so I figured I rather just take out the entire block to just get it over with...this of course after I sound thee alarm. I figure a rack of Scorpions will do. I still have a few more things on my list..lol

you wouldn't be as upset if you saw the wood furniture on that Zastava. To meet US import law three parts of the rifle have to be US produced, so they slap some poorly made US furniture on it to leave the rifle intact and meet the import requirement. For the Vepr, much as I like the sporting stock version, I'm a lefty.

Yeah, sporting stocks are lame. I would have replaced all the wood with the good stuff...
