This is a great question. I need to get back to my relentless rotation. Between the brylons, a couple of new (to me) pipes and the ones that "always" get smoked, I have been in a holding pattern.

I am thinking a Roctober might be good.

Well maybe we can have a daily challenge
start with a "No" Pipe cleaner day
...........well that would be a challenge for everyone except Fr_Tom and KK
you two don't use those things anyway

.............., and can honestly say that the pipe itself smokes great but the stem makes all the difference in the world. With the factory stem the taste is rubbery and the pipe tends to gurgle a lot, but the acrylic saddle stem turns the pipe into a smooth smokin machine...............

maybe that is the same problem with my brylon and venturi pipe too
i think i will try to remedy this

It depends on the pipe. As a rule the Grabows and cobs don't seem to call for them much. If anything I think I find the smoke a little degraded for a bowl or two after I use one, but it recovers. Pipes like the GBD get one down the shank pretty much every bowl, but it is more high strung and needy perhaps.

Reaming on the other hand almost always seems to improve things. It is probably no more than going from a pinkie diameter bowl to a thumb sized one, but I am encouraged to ream more often and use fewer pipe cleaners just in general.
