I have been sampling my new Rattrays Exotic Orange, in my Meers. It is good, for the first 2/3rds of the bowl but definitely takes on an ashen quality for the final third. The beginning is Very good though. It reminds me, strongly, of a good orange and spice tea. I have found it to be an excellent companion smoke to a "Rusty Nail" in the evening. For me, the two just seem to go hand in hand.
I will note that this, like good scotch, is NOT something to be abused. I would not smoke it all the time but, rather, keep some on hand for when I need a relaxing evening. My wife, BTW, likes the room note.

"I am still standing"
It's not for the song but for the Empire State Building.

The Empire State Building B-25 crash was a [9:49 a.m. on Saturday, July 28] 1945 aircraft accident in which a B-25 Mitchell bomber, piloted in thick fog over New York City, crashed into the Empire State Building. The accident did not compromise the building's structural integrity, but it did cause fourteen deaths (three crewmen and eleven people in the building) and damage estimated at $1,000,000 ($13,593,346 in 2017 dollars).

I am smoking Orlik Club Mixture in a Brebbia, cool water beside me [plus notes for bills].

I am giving the Silver Duke its first pipe cleaner of the day in preparation for another bowl of Big-n-Burley. I'll be in the office reviewing homily notes for the 6 PM service and answering the phone.

I have to say, I had high expectations for this smoke, and they have been exceeded. The combo of smoking it all day, absentmindedly (mostly) clearing the airway with a used pipe cleaner and maybe the proximity of Mars have all made this an unusually outstanding smoke. Perhaps leaving the pipe in the car during pastoral calls had something to do with it. If the Surgeon General could experience this smoke, he would be recommending pipe smoking as a quality of life thing. Just saying...

I know we are all supposed to be smoking $1000 pipes, cleaning them compulsively and resting them for a week between smokes. It is hard to imagine having a better smoke than this one...
