But yes, crooner isn't the best introduction to itMikeDennison wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 6:57 pmWait...are you saying that deer might actually taste good in another blend?Mr Beardsley wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 5:29 pm
Every time I read about someone's first encounter with deer tongue being crooner I can't help but laugh. I have some. I smoke it. But it's kind of the Mike Tyson of tobacco with dt

It has tons of small fills. Almost looks diseased. I do like the shape though.houtenziel wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 8:48 amUgly? I'd say that is a dang nice pipe myself.racinghoss wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 8:36 am EMP in this ugly Parker (new Parker, not the older/better ones). Still a decent pipe and takes latakia well. A gift from my son, when he was 8.
Enjoying a beautiful day, working from home...outside, admiring the hills, horses (not mine) and motorcycle (mine).

And again.
I used to say the same thing everyone says about brylon...and without even so much as having handled one.
I am convinced that new smokers buy brylon because they are so affordable and not knowing the first thing about pipes find that they are hot, wet smokers and weigh a ton. I am also convinced that brylon is actually advanced smoking material. You have to know what you're doing or you're gonna hate it. And you'll hate briar, meerschaum, and cobs for that matter.
These guys have a "bad" experience and chunk the big B and give up on pipes altogether . Then, after a many years long "hiatus" from pipe smoking, they will pick up a cob and some PA and discover pleasurable smoking. They never pick up another brylon and proudly boast they have been smoking a pipe for 20 years (false) and pronounce the expected mantra against the Bry...hot, heavy, wet and it sucks when really it was their ignorance that generated this opinion.
So...all you guys who know what you're doing, get a brylon and learn it like you would any other pipe. And come have fun with us in the August Brylon Challenge when we will smoke the red headed step child of the pipe world at least once a day for the whole month!
