I like some aros. I like some non-aros. If it tastes good and smells good, I like it. Pretty simple. But then, I'm a simple man.

"Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it'll help you some sunny day"
"Oh, take your time, don't puff too fast
Pipes will come and they will pass
You'll find Prince Albert and you'll find love
And don't forget, son, there is someone up above"
"And be a simple kind of pipe smokin' man
Oh, smoke something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of pouch blend man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
"Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your bowl
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to smoke and be satisfied"
"And be a simple kind of pipe smokin' man
Oh, smoke something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of bulk tobacco man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
Oh yes, I will
"Boy, don't you worry, you'll find your pouch
Follow your heart and not some idiot typing on his computer from his couch
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to smoke and be satisfied"
"And be a simple kind of pipe smokin' man
Oh, smoke something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of OTC man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
Baby, be a simple, really simple man
Oh, smoke something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple, kind of simple man

A tip of my fedora to you, Houtz. You're outKinging WK with this kind of thing.
"Baby, be a simple kind of simple man." Better advice has never been given.
I hope you copy and pasted this in the "Bad Pipe Poetry" thread. Not that it's bad poetry (at all!!!!) but all pipe poetry should be archived there for future scholars who will study this kind of stuff a hundred years from now.
Cheers!

To me, anything which gets its flavoring by pure blending of tobaccos is not an "aromatic" but, rather, falls into a different category.
An "aromatic" has a topping, of some sort, which gives it an added flavor/aroma.
...and "Lakelands" are a class all unto their own...and you can keep em!

OK.. I stumbled on this old thread.. And it got me thinking.. The other day.. In the you can have em thread Mr Beardsley said he isn't really down with full blown aros that much anymore.. I am starting to get there myself. While I still do like a sweet Cavendish aromatic here and there, I am tending to favor more crossover blends.. Or English aromatics.. Or whatever you want to call them. Basically blends with a topping, but maybe with a touch of latakia, or some other stuff besides only sweetened cav. I am at Starbucks right now.. So to use a coffee metaphor.. Think of a super sweet white chocolate mocha as being Molto Dolce. Now think of a black coffee with only 1 pump of Syrup in it... That's what I'm talking about! You can taste the damn coffee.. But it has a little bit of topping to make it interesting.
What blends do you guys recommend that still taste like some kick ass tobacco, but they have a slight topping to make it interesting. Two of my favorites in this category are MB Plumcake, and IRC Royale. I would love to here your thoughts on this.
Peace!
