Rat Rod, Rat Woodie.

I'm in the process of cleaning and polishing the stem now. I don't have Fiebings Black, I have a few other colors somewhere in the garage I'll have to find.

The only reason I say black, is because for some reason I always visualize something flat black when someone says rat-rod.

FD is for flush, drinkless. I can't find a reference on the 1263 but every time I did see it it was on the stem of a Super Grain 98b. I think that's it.

Serious as a heart attack. Caveat: That's not pipes I've personally seen/held/inspected. A search of FD-1263 turned that up. Surprisingly, there wasn't any info about it on the Kaywoodie forum.

The stem stamp numbers aren't the same as the shape numbers. In this case, a 98b is always mated to a FD-1263.

I dig it! I always hit mine with a heat gun to chase any excess oil out of the pores in the wood before waxing. Seems to help the wax coat keep an even sheen

I don't have a heat gun. Does a hair dryer get hot enough?
