Busy day, no pipes til now. Got this slender Algerian briar billiard burning Macanudo. Happy Saturday evening, all!
Now enjoying a bowl of my Old Standby in the same pipe.

That's no bueno. What are you doing wrong
It was even SWRA and Watch City Slices, nice and dry. Not blends that are prone to gurgle, that's for sure. Who knows.. definitely could be me. :D
Got to give it to the Grand Dukes though.. they haven't ever gurgled even a little bit. Bubbled finish yes.. but they smoke great
My gbd ebony tends to be slightly wet but it doesn't deter me from smoking it. I figure I just need to work on caking it better and maybe check the airway and adjust my habits if need be
I think the problem with mine is that the draft hole in the bowl is dead center of the bottom. It's literally the lowest point in the bowl. Most people think this is good engineering, but in reality if you are going to have moisture buildup in a pipe, having the trough of the draft be the lowest point for moisture to collect is bad. I think it was KK who said once that having the draft slightly off bottom was actually better.. the last 3 gurglers were all at the very bottom. I think that sort of proves it for me.

I believe you're correct. All of my pipes from Neal are drilled a hair above the bottom. He and I have discussed the drilling at length, and he has the same thought. If the draft is the lowest point, it's going to gurgle

Send it to me. I will smoke heck out of it and send it back "broke in." I bet that will do it. Return shipping is on me, and you can follow progress in WAYS just for entertainment.

The stuff I smoke is not likely to ghost things (I don't think).

I mixed some LCNVB with some PS Nougat, like MikeDennison does with BL/WB and it's good stuff. All in a great American made Dr. Grabow.
