GBD Speciale Standard Pot (789) (pre-1980)

w00t! You hit that nail on the head. I have two 789's and they are really great pipes. It is a shorter pot and very nice for being out and about, etc. It was due to an experience with a 789, that I am a lot more cautious about pipes that "travel" and pipes that stay at home these days. I had a 789 that went AWOL. I was pretty sure it had fallen out of my jacket pocket climbing in or out of the Suburban. I retraced steps. I looked in places it might have been pushed by snow plows. I finally gave up.

Four months later, I hit a pothole and it jumped out from under the seat of the Suburban. You can hardly imagine how happy I was to see it again.

I was tempted to use it as an illustration the next time I preached Luke 15:8–10, but I decided against it.

I bought a handmade whatchamacallit from a really nice guy in TX. I'll post a picture when it arrives (I asked him to delay shipping for a couple days)

But is it one of those things we want or one of those things we make fun of in PM?

The thread is cryptic, and may well have taken a dark turn.
