This song was originally written by Mel Tillis about a Korean war vet but was made famous by Kenny Rogers & The First Edition in 69, it unfortunately rang true for many of the guys who came back from Vietnam.
PSF Song of the Day
For the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy from the British and then the American perspectives.
We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender... Winston Churchill
And I'd be remiss if I didn't include the French...

I like The Andrews Sisters but I have never actually listened to Vera Lynn. Only knew her name, she's great. Thanks for posting oldbill.
Yes Sir! She was truly a great vocalist who really didn't get the respect that she should have here in the states but was HUGE in Britain and had a decades long career. Here's an example of what she sounded like some 35 years after WWII.Preacher1611 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:16 am I like The Andrews Sisters but I have never actually listened to Vera Lynn. Is it June already? Where does the time go?
I always share this song in June. I make sure to watch it once a year, like re-reading Leaves of Grass.
There is something mysteriously captivating about this video:

Time sure do fly when you get older
With 11 Grandkids on our list it's almost time for us to start buying Christmas presents for them. With our 2 kids & 2 in law kids that makes for a long list!Kevin Keith wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 4:16 pmI feel the same way. It'll be Christmas before we turn around twice.
