I think in general pipe smokers tend to disparage OTC tobaccos. Anyone can buy them and your mechanic at the garage smokes them in a brylon. How good can they be?

Sometimes things have survived the test of time because they are good. SWR falls into this category.
Ya know, I tried some of the fancy pants tobaccos that I'd heard people rave about. And some of'em were ok. But I think you're right; the codger otcs have been around so long for a reason. I've always wound up coming back to them. Simple, straightforward, and tasty. What's not to like? :D I think I feel a homily comin' on...

I think there are more than a few that fit that category. Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic, Edward G. Robinson, also I stumbled onto Comoy's Cask No. 2 Portwood. I am sure that are many other examples. The trick is finding ones that suit you.
