Reginal Beer back in the day

Not too much regional beer where I grew up. There was a Schlitz brewery nearby Schlitz was everywhere.

In Detroit, the big local was Stroh's. Other local brands from the early/mid 70s were Goebel and Altes.

The Strohs from when I drank it in the early 70s was of the fire brewed variety. I see that that is no longer the case. Does it taste different? It was perfect after a long day of water skiing on Lake Austin in July. Better than Lone Star. Though I will drink a Lone Star before anything Miller or Budweiser makedm

In the late 70s we called Strohs Detroit ditch water and then bought Old Milwaukee, lol! Toledo didn’t have any local beer that I remember.

The brewery in Detroit closed around 1985. That was the end of fire-brewed Stroh's. Today's version bears no similarity.
