Just a fun post.

One of our favorite shows is I Love Lucy. Of course they smoked throughout the series because of the sponsor Philip Morris, but in this particular episode, Lucy meets Charles Boyer, Desi Is smoking a petit corona. I miss the days when smoking was normal behavior and not the pariah it has become!

In another episode after they moved to Connecticut, and it may be a part of the Lucy Desi comedy hours, that Milton Berle leaves a cigar at their house. It makes Ethel think that Lucy is having an affair. Lucy claims it is one of Ricky’s cigars but Ethel says no, Ricky likes those skinny little cigars.

I think that it is established in real life that Desi preferred a petite corona, even to cigarettes. What I am wondering is what brand do you think he would’ve smoked? Undoubtedly Cuban, but which factory? No way to know, I suppose.

The resolution on these photos is not very good, but they are all I could find. Desi is smoking one of the petite coronas with Charles Boyer in each picture

The only information that I can find is that he smoked Cubans. The internet isn't any more helpful than that

Hoyo, Montecristo and Upmann did. El Rey del Mundo make a demitasse, which is close. Some of the Cuban Panetelas are close to cigarillo size.

I’m pretty sure they still do. One of the b&m wine/spirit merchants I sometimes visit usually keeps a few cigars in, including cigarillos from Cohiba and Montecristo. I haven’t been there for a while so I’ll have to go for another look sometime, but I can’t imagine much has changed.
If you’re reading this, you’ve scrolled too far.

I did some poking around at lunch. Desi was all about the Cubans. His doctor is quoted as saying his death from cancer "was from smoking all those Cuban cigars..."
