Ring Gauge

I know some cigars, like some men's waistlines, are thicker than others.

What do we call the difference between a 10g and a 15g cigar? Are they degrees? Do we abbreviate the gauge like that? 10g? I don't remember. I haven't read a cigar catalog in a long time. I just call Finck and the girls take care of me.

I am surprised we don't have a primer on this on the site. That is basic and useful information. This is the kind of thing PSF is know for. Shame on us.

A ring equals 1/64th inch. A 64 ring is one inch. 50 is 50/64ths of an inch.

That's what I mean: the ring gauge. Am I confusing my terms again? I rarely talk about these things except here on PSF,

Don't even get me started about the difference between a shank and tenon and a bit. I know. I know.

That is what I have been caring about all this time? 64ths of an inch?

slender cigars are flavor bombs but heat up easier
I like to smoke for a while, so I tend toward 50-54 ring gauge at 6-7" inches
I hope our names are touching on the watch list

I saw a dude get kicked off a job site over 1/64th. Technically it was probably because he refused to acknowledge that his cut was wrong, but yes a 64th can be a bit of a big deal.

That's what I love, tasting the wrapper and concentrated flavors. I like to smoke all day but get bored of things after 30-45 minutes so I prefer the smaller ones. I can't do the same back to back but I can do multiples so long as I switch it up between.

I’ve think flavor comes through best for me in a Lancero. It seems to be the vitola that has the most consistent flavor profile throughout for me as well. The bigger ring sizes have that flavor complexity that changes and develops. I like ‘em all but Lanceros are my favorite.
