My first Lark! Ed James was always teasing about trading for a Lark. Good times and a good man.

The stampings “LARK” and “Dr. Grabow” have been X’d out, which is weird for a Lark. I can’t see what was so effed up that they did that. The stamp “ITALY” escaped obliteration. And it has that old style Silver Duke carving. You don’t see that style much or I don’t at least.

This is a sweet little pipe even as filthy as it is and 1/4 full of DMT. The rook stinger is a nice touch but you know that’s going in the bin.

I can tell this little one is gonna be a good Ash Maker. This is not a restoration, just a clean up. I’ll post the after, after. lol

No great shakes, but a nice little yellow spade Dr Grabow reject Lark is clean as a whistle and sanitized for my protection. Again, I can’t see any reason it was X’d out. I should go check the archives for more info.

What was your choice to clean up the exterior of the bowl?

Plug the bowl and shank, then 409 general purpose spray cleaner and a toothbrush. Rinse and dry with a cloth, buff with beeswax.

So many different ways. I’ve never heard anyone use general cleaner. Happy to see it turns out good

@Piping Abe, I forgot to mention. If it had been a Lee pipe I would have just soaked it in Everclear. I hear those things have asbestos strength stain. lol 😆

That’s how I’ve always done it. Really cuts the grime.
