@Sheridan try an old fashioned. Made with bourbon or rye, it's a great cocktail

@Sheridan you might also try a Rob Roy, another cocktail purportedly invented in NYC at the Astoria. It's basically the malt whiskey (Scotch) version of a Manhattan. Perhaps more to your liking, or perhaps an abomination.
Because sometimes the body just wants canned fish.
