After mentioning it on the forum, I dug up my seldom-smoked Mark Twain. The stem was stuck firm. I gently tried to jiggle it a little. Nothing. Somewhere in my mind, I remembered something about using alternating heat and cold, because the different material expand and contract differently. So I ran it under scalding water for a minute. The after a minute, I put it in the freezer for another couple minutes. Still stuck.

Well, a couple more repetitions of this process, and lo-and-behold, it slipped right out! Before I put it back in for smoking, I rubbed a little lip balm on it for lubrication, so it shouldn't get stuck again. So far, so good.

Nicely done. The Mark Twain is my favorite Corn Cob.
You can sand down the tenon as well as lunrication. Little at a time.
