I investigated this years ago and I found out they used drill bits that can drill a curved hole. Easy arrow straight drilling on that one. It's one piece made to look like two tied together. Look closely and you can visualize exactly where it's drilled. Even if they needed to change the angle of the draft drilling and keyhole it the band would cover the little bite in the end of the shank
