I have never been tempted to try one. There's something vaguely off-putting about them for me; can't think I'd like to have the soft, squishy doohickey in my mouth. What's it made of, rubber? Latex? Silicone?

I never even felt like trying them, sure it's annoying when the stem gets marked but I'd rather deal with that then have something uncomfortable in my mouth.
