What are you Listening to 2024?
I am listening to the Phillip Glass version of Wichita Vortex Sutra while reading the Alan Ginsberg poem by the same name.
I prefer the musical version.
I respect Ginsberg's craft and talent with language but I can rarely agree with his message in full. I was going to paste the whole poem here but it such a slog. I will spare you. He laughed all the way to the bank.
It is curious. I love baroque language and linguistic play but, in music, I prefer minimalism.
And, of course, this is the next thing YouTube offered me when Phillips Glass's Wichita Vortex Sutra was done playing:

I saw him once in the late 80s or early 90s with Conway Twitty and Vince Gill.
