Hey gents, before I went on vacation I was doing some digging and found Vox Pop pipes. They were made by the Linkman/Grabow factory to go along with tobacco purchases from HLT.
I found a beat up one for really cheap, box and all. It didn’t look too bad and I’m gonna do a full restoration on it.
The top of the bowl has been damaged pretty bad. I may top it or just sand it down, we’ll see how it goes. Besides that just basic vulcanite cleanup and we’ll see what else. I’ll post more when I get around to actually restoring it.
Vox Pop is short Latin for Voice of The People. Also why I thought it was very cool.

I really dabbled with sending this to Briarville. But decided against it. I bought it with the intention of doing it myself. And glad I stuck with that idea. It is much more rewarding that way.
Anyway, started with the internals. Reamed almost down to bare wood with a dull small pocket knife and sandpaper. Standard Alcohol and Bristle Pipe Cleaners from there. The bowl wasn’t too bad after it was reamed. The shank on the other had has this metal tube that leads to the hole in the bottom of the bowl. It was very nasty. The stem also needed some work as it was full of gunk.
Finally a cotton ball and Alcohol soak for 24 hours. I did this all yesterday.

Today I worked on the stem and finished scrubbing away with more Alcohol. You can see the cotton Ball and Pipe Cleaner used after the soak.
After one stroke the oxidized smell and brown came out. I sanded in multiple grits from 400-2500.
