Have not had luck with lighters except Zippo but I taste fuel throught the bowl, and not faintly. Also why do people say you can't use matches outside? Seen that comment countless times but can't figure out why.
I'm just not skilled enough to keep'em lit in a breeze.
You're just not giving them a fair shake in the breeze, face away from the wind, lean into any walls or nooks, use your hands, give it a shot. I have confidence in you.
I'll give'er a try. :D

If you ever want to get it fixed up
https://lighterrepairs.com
Thanks for the link but, at this point it just sits on the shelf with the rest of the out of service lighters.
A shelf! Of course, I just throw mine in a drawer and forget about them.
I have a couple of vintage lighters that I like displaying. The rest go in the bin.

Bruyere_Royale wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 3:36 pm I use a cheapo 711 lighter or matches. I can't use zippos anymore because the fuel makes me nauseous. My wife bought me a really nice Old Boy that I used every day for about six years until I dropped it while climbing out of my truck and now the spray nozzle leaks so I don't use it.

My counsel would be to get the gift from the wife back in service.

That's what I was hinting at, but you have a way with words

It still works but I would have to fill it every day. She is happy that I didn't throw it away.

Ronson was probably a top-of-the-line lighter brand back in the day. I prefer a Ronson Empire for cigars and they last me about a year. I think it has two flames but I can't find it on my desk right now. I like a double or triple torch for cigars. When I can score a freebie with a cigar order, I'll take it. I don't buy them.

For a pipe, I use a regular Zippo. The taste of lighter fluid doesn't bother me. I don't notice it. The tongue in my mouth is as sensitive as the one in my shoe. I had a pipe Zippo once but I lost it. I don't miss it.

I've tried matches. I know how they work. I don't like them. I don't like an ashtray full of dead matches.

That Ronson pipe lighter has too many features for my taste. I like the right tool for the job. I don't own a Swiss Army knife, either.
