I was collecting Kaywoodie POYs for awhile. Don't know if they are still being made. They were something like 1/3 larger than the traditional shape they were modeled after. I found all that I had to be very well made good smoking pipes.

For the real oldies I like WDC and CPF. I will snag anything stamped French Briar. I also love a ruby Bakelite stem.

I'm in the poor engineering camp. I would typically mess with the pipe to try and eliminate the gurgle. Opening the airway up a bit can help. If I couldn't make it work for me, I'd pass it on.
