Re: Which wax for buffing?
Well that sucks. I have to find something I can use to hand buff with. Any oils you know of that will work? I've made my own concoction for hand polishing. Melted about 3 parts carnauba wax to 1 part bees wax & then added mineral oil until I was satisfied with the consistency. It's a solid at r...

Re: pipe wax
Yep, I'd never use car wax on a pipe. Carnauba wax is a bit hard for hand polishing, so I made my own polish by melting approximately 3 parts carnauba to one part bees wax & then mineral oil until I was happy with the consistency. It's still a solid but melts when applied with a cloth much quick...

Re: Jack's Special?
Very nice & for $15?!? Score. It looks like it has a decent sized bowl & chamber for a "little" pipe.

Re: Latest Tobacco Purchase 2018
I always got kind of a baking spice vibe off of Mark Twain but don't trust my tasters, they're kind of crazy like the rest of me My first impression was an aroma that was vaguely familiar, Plumcake maybe? Then when I went back for another whiff, I got a different impression, like maybe an Amphora t...

Re: Petersons
Get a Pete with an army mount.. then you can yank that sucker out with reckless abandon. :D I've got about 12 pipes in my rotation now & just alternate between 2-3 pipes each day. Once ones cooled down, I run a pipe cleaner through (Why I'm starting to warm to straight stems; don't have to take...
Re: Petersons
Reading through this thread reminds me of how stinkin' little I know about pipes. No comments, just admiration for those who've been able to figure all this stuff out. :) For far too long I did everything wrong with my Peterson. It was the only pipe that I had for several years. The poor thing was ...

Re: For Sale: Antique MLC Sterling Canted Billiard
That is one beautiful pipe. Just love those amber/amberoid stems.
Shame that someone felt the need to carve initials into the bowl. Considering it was professionally engraved, I'd guess that the pipe was ordered as a gift & the engraving might well have been done by MLC (?)
