I'm gonna miss "The Appertif" .. They ain't bringing that one back.. Also.. I prefer Astley's 55 Elizabethan over Dunhill Elizabethan. Not a fan of 965.. But glad about EMP & NC.

I wasn't going to purchase any of the new Peterson blends but I gave in to my curiosity. I got a tin of the Early Morning Pipe since I've never smoked that one. I don't care for it at all. Just too bitter for my tastes, so it will go in a jar and I'll revisit it in the future after some age on it. I much prefer the SG Squadron Leader over EMP. I don't know what it is about Dunhill/Peterson blends, we just don't get along.

I've had the McConnell variant. Not sure I'd say it's real close to DNR but it's pretty tasty in its own right. Like a better version of LBF. I just bought a few ounces from my B&M.. They still had some of the old stuff lurking behind the counter. I'm gonna grab some new tins when the craze wears off.. But this is nice and aged.. Yumm!

Over the past several years, I moved away from Dunhill although they had some nice blends. In the 1960s, I used to visit their shop in San Francisco. The store staff would stare down their long noses at my presumption. I would stand in front of the humidor examining the cigars and dreaming of the day I could afford one.
Nightcap and Elizabethan were two blends I enjoyed more recently. There are others out there I appreciate more. It would be nice to have them back. Certainly, their tin art was superb.

Im glad to see some of them back . Their flake is off the chart and the standard mixture was my " English " of choice for a couple decades . The wife digs the Elizabethan and the flake is her favorite ... she'll be pleased

The D/P Nightcap Test was conducted under rigorous laboratory conditions last night (my garage).
Result: Factoring mellowing due to age, they are indeed exactly the same. Smoke 'em if you got 'em!
