It's amazing what Lane came up with for ERR considering what they've demonstrated to be capable of. Even more amazing considering they own the recipe, though not the name, and were the last to produce the original. How exactly they arrived with that for a match is beyond me.

Lol , I know , right !??! I would have to put that up for the surprise of the year when that came out . I dont know if you dig black cavendish , but if ya do , the Dark Red is pretty damn lovely and a fantastic all day type smoke . Btw , Im a Kaywoodie / Mastro de Paja fan ... we are like minded , I believe [ sorry , lol ]

Lane thought they pulled the wool over our eyes with that one or something. I'm more of a Burley forward Virginia fan, but there isn't a genre I can't find a pleasant smoke from. Overall I don't jibe with Cavendish much, or really smoke aro stuff, but of the blends I've had Dark Red is good, I would recommend it. Also Sutliff Creme Brule and the Custard one, Vanilla? Lane Black Raspberry gets my approval too. There's others, smoke them so seldom and usually cut with something heavier, I should make a list I can reference. Yes, Kaywoodie and Mastro de Paja, excellent taste, a man of refinement.

I had the Lane version when it was introduced a few years ago. I believe I was forced to abandon it because it failed the wife sniffer test. I think it's safe to reintroduce it to her and see if she thinks it smells better than some stinkers I keep burning here.

As unlikely as it will seem, my wife likes latakia, and she will often compliment the room note of OJK and Picayune, so I know she does not have a perique aversion. In our (almost) 36 years of marriage, I have always smoked in the house. In that entire time, there has been exactly one blend where she said she was just going to call in her markers and ask me not to ever smoke it again. I said sure and gave the rest of the tin away.

The blend? *drumroll*

Molto Dolce

No kidding - I dutifully dumped the rest of the bowl I was smoking in the yard and reloaded with OJK in the den. She took a deep breath and said, "Oh yes, that is better. Give me a kiss."

I'm like you, enjoying what I've tried from C&D but only scratching the surface of their hundreds of blends. I get a nice molasses-y note in the OJK "Red Label", and from what I've read it's present in all of these. I haven't tried the "Blue Label", but it may be something like what you're looking for. Or not, in which case there's only like 350 more blends to try from C&D.
