Sun’s out! Time to tan yer cob.
I didn’t see it anywhere here so I decided to throw out a PSA for all the PSF SOBs. If you want to freshen up a cob that is maybe getting a little funk to it just set it out in the sun and let nature sweeten it back up for you. This seems to work for any pipe I’ve done it with, briars included with good results. It’s a trick I learned at PSF 1.0 and it has served me well for years. I’ve got the ones I’ve smoked regularly over the past month or so sitting on my window sill while I air out the house from my cigar this morning. Here is a picture of this complex procedure (don’t mind the dog turds in the snow bank it’s been a long cold winter)

I've been doing this for a long time too. My cobs stay in a straight rack on the windowsill faceing outwards winter and summer. I have not tried it with briars but it sounds reasonable enough. If it keeps cobs dry it should work with briar.

Excellent PSA! Just remember that Mr. Golden Sun will oxidize vulcanite. If your pipe has a vulcanite stem you can take the stem off before sunning. Good post and reminder Kyle!
