W.E. Garrett scotch I bought off of eBay of all places. They are no-where to be found in Northern California and the trusted online retailers don't carry them anymore so I figured I'd give it a try. It's new old stock. Never been opened in decades I'm assuming. There is no date stamp nor barcode nor health warning on it and comes in a cardboard tube with tin lid and base. The newer scotchs usually come in plastic containers, so this specimen is old. But, the question is how old?? I almost didn't want to open it, but I figured I'd enjoy a piece of history. The snuff is fine but most of the smokiness is now gone but nicotine is still there. And only small bit of rust starting to occur on outside of lid, which I might try removing with some vinegar and baking soda.

If anyone knows how to date this I'd be very interested. The Comprehensive Smokeless Tobacco Health Education Act of 1986 (CSTHEA) required rotating warning labels on smokeless tobacco packaging and advertisements to start on July 22, 2010, so its at least that old.

In any case, I'm happy just to have this nice bit of tobacco history ImageImage

Thats a major score. And rare for ebay to miss that it still contained tobacco. I’m not sure what you got it for but whatever it is, its mustve been a steal. Great piece of Tobacco History. Hope you enjoy it while you can. It may be the last one left from so long ago.

Forgive me if there is already a thread about this: do we have a nasal snuff buy/sell market place? If so, may I have the link? Otherwise, I'm looking for American Scotch Snuffs like many of us. I live in San Jose, California. Curious to hear from some of the members in the Southern United States where it may be more available. My tobacconist doesn't carry it anymore nor the Smoke Shops near me. I'm good on all other types of nasal snuff (mrsnuff and Toque), but these American Scotchs are really elusive. It sounds like mrsnuff is looking to open a warehouse in the US and will carry the scotchs but until then, need to rely of making connections here.
Thanks for your consideration.

There is a no selling of tobacco policy on this forum. Below is a link to "The Law" (i.e. forum code of conduct). As far as online vendors, others may chime in on suggestions.

Ok. Thank you for the clarification. I wasn't aware of that policy.

Sharrow Grand Cairo mixed with Tom Buck creates an SP on Steroids. I'm drinking Earl Grey tea to top it off for a complete bergamot experience. Quite nice for the evening and winding down from the day.

I like Tom Buck but except for the fact that it looses its scent way before I finish the tin.
