Here is a real cry-me-a-river tale. I feel a need to go hat shopping. I have more than enough hats to last me all seasons for the next couple of years, but the older hats are wearing out so I feel a vague need to keep up a rotation schedule so that there are always newer hats as well as older standbys, that are still respectable, with space on the hatstand.
Objectively, I do not need a new hat.
My heart is starting to covet a new hat, though. Do I follow my head or do I follow my heart?
I'm going to follow my wallet but I know if I went over to Meyer the Hatter and told the guys what I am thinking about, they would have it in storage upstairs. I know they have it in stock. If they don't, they can get it. That's why I'm not going to Meyer the Hatter anytime soon. I can resist anything but temptation. I can turn off my brain but I can't turn off my heart.

Some of my hats are starting to look old but I have plenty in my arsenal that I don't need to buy a new one just yet. This time, having too many hats is a nice problem to have. It's a choice between guns and butter and, for the moment, I'm opting on the side of butter.
You can see what I mean-----
That hat, like its owner, is showing its age.
Hats
I understand that he will outgrow this hat as his head gets bigger but can you explain the rest of what you said for me? I do have one cowboy hat, a big one, and I enjoy wearing it, but it is very stiff and I need something more flexible since I change from helmet into dress hat when I travel about town. I don't know much about western style hats. I don't wear my cowboy hat as an ironic novelty act. I wear it because I like it.
I don't know what resistor 20x means. I think a Justin felt hat must be inferior, or, at least, less expensive, but I only know Justin from boot ads in the back of old comic books.
So, has he worn the Justin felt all the time?

Resistol is the brand of hat and 20x refers to the grade of hat. The more x’s the higher the quality of fur used to make it. I am no western hat aficionado but that’s what I learned from the hatters in Texas. The Justin hat he got is made of wool felt as opposed to beaver so it was less expensive.Citizen B wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 6:42 pmI understand that he will outgrow this hat as his head gets bigger but can you explain the rest of what you said for me? He doesn’t wear it as often as he thought he would which is a real shame since he looks pretty darn good in it.

I bought a new black Stetson Open Road the other day (I already own a tan Open Road). Brim up for daytime, brim down for evening.

If I was a pimp at one of those 50+ retirement villages in Florida I would so wear that hat!Citizen B wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 2:22 pm Here is a real cry-me-a-river tale.
