Loblolly is a type of pine tree that grows tall, fast and straight. I’m surrounded by them here as they are treated as a crop to grow and cut.

This parade is more elaborate than usual because it is the Krewe of Dead Beans and the Lucha Krewe but it is nothing unusual. I have hundreds of similar pictures. Everyone does. Bigger walking parades go down my street in June and in in October. During Jazz Fest, the street is a river of people.

The people on the front porch of the green house are my new tenant, her mother, and one of their friends. I said, "Just wait until next month. It will be something else."

Brass band parades go past my house most weekend evenings. People do still get married, thankfully.

It is exotic to you but to us, it is just the rhythm of life.

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras, the most magical day of the year. Everyone's hairs are on end with anticipatory electricity. We are going on an adventure at 4:45AM tomorrow. Mrs. King and I, an English couple, some nice friends, some strangers, the people on the front porch in the photo, some other folks I have invited who may or may not show up.

I never thought I would say it, because I rarely go to parades or participate in the festivities anymore, but, I love Mardi Gras. Everyone is happy. Even me.

I'm mildly drowning in the busyness of life! Grad school is coming to an end, and I have a ton to do. It's all good, though!

I am waiting for midnight so that I can do tomorrow's Wordle. My current streak is 84.
