I have 50% rating on my knees and ankle but I am overweight so they simply say that it is 1) my imagination or 2) because you are overweight and has nothing to do with service. Of course, if you go back through my record, you find that I got overweight AFTER my knees and ankle got messed up and I could no longer hike, run, mountain bike for exercise. But, ya know, don't let those pesky facts get in the way of saving the VA some money or anything...Bamarick wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 9:30 amCorey are you rated by the VA for Disability or Compensation payments? I'm rated at 60% for Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam and on my last visit to my PCP we discussed my having a knee replacement through the VA. I decided to think about it and he told me to just let him know when, or if, I was ready to start the process.CoreyR wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:47 am I am a Ham, Amatuer radio operator, Tech and getting ready to take my general class test in May. I also fish and we do a LOT of camping. I used to hike but my knees have gone completely out...Oh, wait, the VA insists that is only my "imagination," never mind the huge amounts of fluid they have drained from both knees. They have recommended that I try, let's see now, acupuncture, native American sweat lodges (they have thoughtfully built one, out of nylon tarps, at the Richmond VA), and (my personal favorite here) "self medicating." I was airborne infantry for 8 years, most of it in Alaska, carrying a rather large arctic ruck and a mortar. Another 4 years leg infantry. I just imagine my knee/ankle problems though.
My apologies for the bitter rant there.
Lets see, I canoe and kayak too. Nothing wrong with my arms! I used to do some blacksmithing but I have yet to set my forge up, since we move to the new place almost three years ago. Need to get on with that!
What else do you enjoy?
I've never asked the VA for much other than to acknowledge what AO has done to me and much to my surprise I never had to fight them over that. I have medicare and private insurance and quite honestly I was surprised at what my PCP told me about the knee deal since mine is not service connected. He did tell me that I would need to lose at least 25lbs before they would consider doing the replacement. I too started gaining weight when I reached the point that I no longer work as I could no more than 5 or 6 years ago.CoreyR wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 9:57 amI have 50% rating on my knees and ankle but I am overweight so they simply say that it is 1) my imagination or 2) because you are overweight and has nothing to do with service. Well, I have been playing guitar, on and off, for 20+ years. Decided to buy a little tube amp and a couple pedals today. I've had the guitar for a number of years. It's a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Studio

It's crazy how much tone you can get out of those little guys.

I love the amp! I went to the shop to buy it for full price (320 bucks) and they had it on deep discount for only 140. I was ecstatic! I'm surprised how loud it is for a 1watt amp. The delay pedal is amazing but I might go exchange the distortion pedal. I have to fiddle with it before making the decision buy so far it doesn't have the gain I'm looking forhoutenziel wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:44 pmThose Blackstar amps are freakin cool!
