So I finally found one in a late 50's catalog chart. Shape 70 and I have no idea what the 1 in front of it designates. Lol

Sharp Stanny! Do I see the bottom of the crown over the S on the stem?

Thanks! I'm really stoked with it. I wiped the stummel down (with toothpaste) to remove the grime and then waxed it because it came clean so easily. If the flame treatment works on the stem I won't be sending it anywhere. Thinking I may wipe over the logo with some mica pigment, I have pure pearl white, and whether the crown is there or not ill seal the white in with clear super glue

The stummel after about 5 minutes of work

Kind of an odd one, doesn't line up with the stanwell shape charts that I can find. Stanwell registered era, best make, select briar, 170 and as the pictures show a no crown S on the stem. This one may actually go out for a professional resto

That's a shape 170. Don't try to convince yourself that pipe is on that chart.

No, the 170 is a Rhodesian in every chart they've ever published.
