Got home Thursday and my new Nuttens was waiting for me.
Every year Bruno does a Pipe Sale where the profits go to preserving the old Ropp Factory. These are very old Ropp stummels he hand finishes and makes stems for.
Last year I got the Acorn that is dedicated to Semois.
This year I got my favorite shape. And in the traditional sense. A stunner!
Not a fan of filter pipes, but that there is a perty one!

Hey, if anyone picks anything up from Pipes & Cigars and gets a $10 OFF flyer, please share the code. I've got a $5 PnC CASH that is burning a hole in my pocket and it needs help affording something nice. My flyer expired last month. Blah.

It is not a filtered pipe. The draft hole is just so wide open as to allow more air to flow. It wouldnt nearly fit a 6mm
Hi, I'm new to pipe smoking, however, I have been smoking, vaping and toking for 30 years.
I recently purchased a second hand pipe online, and I believe it might be someting a bit special.
It's a Charatan's Make Countryman Selected FH. From my research it was made between 1940 and 1958, but I have no idea, other than what I read.
I'm still waiting for it to be delivered but am excited for it to arrive.
I'd welcome any comments about what I have, what I should do with it, and even, what tobacco blend should I purchase as much first experience. Ordinarily, I smoke Golden Virginia Amber variety rolling tobacco.
this is a proper English Charatan and not one of the ones made in France by Butz-Choquin.
They're excellent pipes. The stems oxidize worse than any stems ever and require a lot of maintenance, or for you to accept that it will never look perfect and just be ok with it.
The bowls are usually on the XL end of the scale in capacity. I find them great for Burley, but I'm an American. You might find this is an excellent pipe for Latakia blends, so you might pick up some Balkan Mixture or Commonwealth and see what you think.
Great pipe, and this shape really got popular with collectors so they usually sell for a premium.
Liberty cannot be purchased by a wish.

I have this Collection 4 Naked Coral just finished from Mark Tinsky.

That one is gonna color like a champ
What a lovely score ! Clean it up and give it a whirl ! Id put whatever you favorite blend is , or go to blend , because youre familiar with them and its a good snapshot of what the pipe will be about

I used to consider which tobacco to smoke in which shape of pipe and bowl size, but I've given that up. Seems if you know what tobacco you like and know how to pack a bowl, it doesn't really matter which pipe shape you smoke it in. That's just my two cents.
That bowl is really unique and old school, so of course I like it. With a little work the oxidation can usually buff out to almost black, or you can just sanitize it and leave the character. Either way, grats on that score!
