What a great looking pipe!
In really good shape, too. Just a little scorching on the rim...which will likely get worse with me smoking it!
You want some protective rimcake - just saying...
Ok...being a rather newish piper...I'm baffled. What's "protective rimcake"?

People who are not OCD about cleaning rims on pipes, will develop some "cake" on the rim of the pipe. It is generally seen as pipe abuse or an indication of laziness or something by the people who use three pipe cleaners after every smoke. Some pipes seem inclined to accumulate rimcake.

Oh..ok. While not OCD about it, I do tend to give the rims a clean when give my pipes a once-over. I don't mind the scorch. :)

Rim cake insulates the briar from the heat of lighting up.

If it's not your thing, preventing it is as simple as licking your thumb and rubbing the soot off the rim after every smoke.

I picked this up on a whim to add to my pot collection. It's an Old England (Sasieni sub brand) 58s that looks to be in pretty good shape. Has a couple of minor dings but nothing I'm concerned with and the steel inner tube is still connected to the stem

Received this from last weeks ebay purchase
buffed it out and fitted it with a lucite bit
to match my other omega nosewarmer
not bad for 10 bucks + the cost of the stem
