So, a quick google search has revealed there is big money in cricket fighting. Although the sport itself is not illegal, it is illegal to gamble on crickets. Huh, who knew? Seems someone has won $20k on cricket fights. The article also suggests that the crickets are not harmed during the fight.
So, my apologies for my ignorance.

Me? I'd rather bet on crickets. The outcome is easier to predict if you know what to look for in the makings of a champion. The income is more predictable.
@rlucas, it's true. The crickets aren't hurt. I don't know what they are doing but I've never seen red blood. Though intense and exciting, a cricket battle is made more exciting by gambling and the cheering of the crowd.
