What's a handgun app? Something for your phone?
lol... here in wonderful NJ you need to apply for a handgun purchase permit.

the current crisis drove home the need to keep certain things in my home, and I decided one of the things I was lacking was a 1911. I haven't owned a handgun in 25 years because I used to have a drug and alcohol problem and I knew that it was only a matter of time before I used one of my handguns for its intended purpose. Cleared out everything that wasn't for hunting.

Well now I am 25 years clean and sober and I definitely see the need to have something stronger than a can of OC in my home.

This is what I came up with after a crash course in reading about 1911s and feeling after all I'd took in that this was the nicest thing in the price range I was willing to give the problem. Love to hear your thoughts on this one if you have an opinion, and thank you.

My best friend decided he wanted a 1911 and he had a grand to spend so I recommended the Range Officer. It's a fine gun and a relative bargain. I didn't have that much to spend, but I have a bunch of other guns so if my Turkish one gives me trouble I have plenty of time to fix it.

Thanks, not hearing good things about the new Pythons. If you give them a year to get it right you might give it another try. A Model 29 is a proven gun that can be had for the price of the Colt. I personally would like to have a Model 25.

The other side, just for grins.

or would it be better to skip the ambi safety and front serrations and get a Range Officer for roughly the same dough?

Are you left handed? There are no front serrations.

I fire a rifle left handed, but I can fire a handgun either hand although right is my preference

This is more of a competition firearm, but if your a shooter you'll like it. For just home defense I'd just get a regular 1911 without all the bells and whistles.
