I thought this was interesting. For entertainment and informational purposes only. From The Shooter’s Bible, #64, 1973 Edition.

They got one wrong. The .38 S&W will not fit in the .38 Colt New Police cylander other than on some later chambered guns, but the New Police round works just fine in the S&W. All three will fire in the .380 Webley chambered guns. The Webley and Enfield revolvers were chambered to fire a 200 grain bullet and accuracy goes to pot with the much lighter American bullets. I don't know about the .380 Webley round as I never had any. I would guess its interchangeable with the .38 S&W round as we supplied the British with thousands of Victory Model S&W revolvers on the lend-lease program during WWII. Which they promptly threw in the ocean after the war.
