I zeroed a new EOTech in on the 100 yd range on my Zastava AK and then proceeded to consistently hit the 400 yd steels, unmagnified. I knew the AK was a phenomenal 0-200 yd carbine, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was out to 400. At 200-400 yds I wasn't even compensating for drop and wind, just holding at 12 o'clock on the plates.
It reaffirms my previous feeling that if you ever needed a carbine for actual SHTF use, it's tough to beat an AK. Penetrates better than 5.56. Goes bang every time you pull the trigger. Has surprisingly good accuracy using garbage Russian ammo. Don't have to police your brass. In normal times when ammo is available and not priced to the moon, it's tough to beat how much fun you can have for little dough with an AK.
