I have never had one burn out either!BGrabow wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:29 pm I had Jake make me two pipes at the time, a Patriot Cob and this Diplomat. I was still somewhat new to pipes and I had read a lot about cobs being easy to burn out. I liked the looks of the Patriot better, so I decided I would smoke that one and set the Diplomat aside for when the Patriot burned out.
The Diplomat ended up getting packed away in long term storage in 2013 when we set out for an indefinite overland adventure that ended up lasting over a year.
Shortly after returning from the trip we made a cross country move to start a new business in Colorado, and the Diplomat remained in storage in Ky.
Then about two years ago we moved back to Ky and purchased a home here. It's been a slow process of getting our things out of storage and this pipe only recently ended up back in my hands.
The Patriot never burned out, and for that matter, none of my cobs ever have, so I decided now was as good of a time as any to go ahead and get it broken in.
Good to know the history...

Hamborger Veermaster (itsa sailing ship) in a beautiful Lannes Johnson bent stack. Coffee on the side. Rain washed away a lot of the salt and snow mounds. Might be a good day to ride.
