Yours is a surprise miss. Mine knew for a few months in advance and had time to stew on it (it was a convention. Not like I could request a date change) So finally I hopped on Expedia and booked a trip. That convention cost me a fortune lol

About a dozen or so years back I told my wife I wouldn’t be around for our anniversary in late September because I drew and Idaho elk tag. Her response was simple. “You know this is going to cost you more than just the price of that tag and your fuel, right?” I told her I never had any doubt of that, and I was right. She bought a 1972 Mercedes 220 diesel in unbelievable mint condition, she drove that thing for several years. I wasn’t too upset, at least it was practical. Coulda been a trip to Jamaica to spend the week with a cabana boy.
