The trick is to find one ideally with a bowl ID of 7/8 in or larger. The Grabow pots I am familiar with come in 3/4 in and a loose 13/16 in. I have had great luck with GBDs and Savinellis. Don't overlook the author and the prince which are really pot variants - short wide bowl.

If you get a "pot" with a 3/4 in bowl it is really a short billiard with thick walls. If you are handy/brave, you can try boring one out. There is plenty of wood there. I have bored out a couple of 3/4 in Grabow pots and am happy with the results. Be warned if you try it, there is always "drift." You probably need a press or something to do it properly. So it gets canted slightly. Eventually cake will fix this.
I knew you were going to mention the fact that you see Pots within Princes, but not Author's. Lol

Pots are a slippery thing . I guess there's a pot shape that everyone coukd agree on but in my mine , itt's a combination of that shape and bowl/chamber dimension
For example , there's pot shapes that have what I would call a " non pot " chamber, like a typical billiard in its dimension.
A " true pot " , imho .. has s shallow wide chamber . I dont know the measurements off hand but you know one when you see one... pots are like pornography it seems
Again , imho , a pot shape pipe without the shallow wide chamber is a POSER . Why ? Because it won't have the smoking characteristics of a true pot , which of course is wide and shallow . But hey ,a pot shape is cool and if you get a poser pot, at least you'll look like to know what you're doing

A shallow wide bowl ( pot ) allows for a max surface burn of the blend during a draw . You get all of the blend in a draw and thstd awesone
They can be tricky to light , especially with certain blends . Kinda like a big ridiculous cigar , when you light it .. focus on getting the outside lit and just move across the center

My favorite blend in a pot is PS LTF , hands down . The nuances of that blend are best displayed in a pot .. irs freaking wonderful

One dimensional blends , like say swr, I dont find to shine more than say a billiard. However , its a volume thing . Swr in a true pot with a full draw ... its a lot of swr . Alot of a good thing isn't too bad.
Pots are for men

This is the first and only pot I ever got. Smokes great, just never found another that appealed to me. :)
