All my pipes are classified as utilitarian work horses except my Meerschaum, thats a March pipe and a mantle piece that I rarely smoke. By rare meaning a few times a month.
Same here. Even my fancy pants Kaywoodie Mandarin is an everyday smoker. I don't smoke my meerschaums unless it's March. I really don't care for meerschaum, to be honest. On the whole, no safe queens here.
I never understood the buying of the pipes to collect dust not ash.
If it wasn't for March, I wouldn't even have a meer. One fell in my lap, free, and the other one was so cheap it might as well have been free. I don't know why I feel that way about meer but I do. Whatta ya gonna do?

You guys have seen these two. The one at the top right is an old WDC Waldorf I picked up at a flea market for $3. Cleaned it up, sanitized, stained it and did some stem work. Smokes like a champ. This is my shop pipe. Everything I have put in it results in an excellent smoke. These days it’s mostly Half and Half or Carter Hall whenim workkng, well except when I have a welding helmet on. Lol. Anyway the little pipe impressed me so much I asked Robert Perkins if he could make me a nice copy. I took all the measurements and pics he asked for. What I got back is a beautiful pipe named “Coco Pup”. It performs just as good as the original.
