Pipe smoker extraordinaire, the one and only Mr. Charles Nelson Reilly tells a pipe story about the time he met Burt Reynold's father.

When you start a thread about CNR, you never know where it will go.

My only memories of “CNR” are from game shows and he was always hilarious. Did he do movies, theater, TV etc as well? I guess I’m being lazy when I could just google it.

I wonder if "blame Wildcat" will become a theme here? - Fr_Tom

His first love was the theater, as a matter of fact. He was great in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Less so in Lidsville. Don't ask about the Bic Banana Ink Crayon commercial, either. Everyone has to make a living somehow, no matter how humiliating we may find it. Anything for a buck.

He used to live down the street from where Johnny Carson shot the Tonight Show, so, if a guest canceled, he was always available.

This is why we are friends. I don't know a lot about art but I know what I like. I should make a print of this image and hang it over my sofa. 3'x3' should do the trick.

Seems like a person who was always good for a laugh. I bet he had great stories.
