In the meantime, I have found my good old knife and I bought a book. This crummy knife is going to the next person who can make something worthwhile of it.

The knife on the cover of this book looks exactly like my good Opinel.. I am going to try to carve a whistle out of a carrot.
Look what you made me do again ... just ordered that book

Well, this was a total waste of money since I cannot open it without carving the handle and I am not going to carve anything. Anybody want something to do?
Im the type of guy who would use that knife for years just the way it is. For most tools its function over fashion. If it works, it works....in my opinion.
The only tool I make an exception for are firearms....they need to be comfortable.

Im not a huge knife guy.
All the knives I have are for using.
I currently have a Buck 119 for dressing game. I have a Puma Buffalo Hunter for processing larger game and I have a set of knives for butchering.
Other than that I have a bunch of pockets knives and a cheapo Katana.
I carried a Buck 119 while hunting from 1985 until 2016 when it fell off a boat on Chautauqua Lake in 70 feet of water....sheath and all. I immediately bought another. I love the cut and ergonomics of the 119. And I edc a Leatherman Sidekick.

The only problem is that I can't open it. So, for me, it doesn't work. Not all of my problems are nails.

If I could get it open, I would be perfectly content with the shape. That was made me buy it. Such is the nature of online shopping.

My problem was the wine store where I usually buy my Opinels has been out of stock for months.

The newest member . Man , this thing is an engineering marvel , imho . Ive never had a knife like this before and I think this will be the only one probably . Its such a beast and ya know how the word " tactical " is used [ over used ] in knife descriptions etc ... well , this is a tactical knife no doubt . Ive had it for a couple months now I think and its changed my carry routine a bit . Long story short , Im keeping it in the center console in the car . I like it when I travel and it will always be there . I rarely carry a firearm ,even when I travel , but Ill always carry this travelling
