What's For Lunch?
I go to the Broad Theater. It is a four-screen movie theater in an old plumbing supply warehouse built in the 1920s. Before Katrina, it was a boxing gym "Home of the Champions." That sign is still painted on one of the outside walls and it is on the official Broad Theater tee shirt, which they don't seem to sell over their website. http://www.thebroadtheater.comPiping Abe wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 11:25 am A review of a Nathan’s Hot Dog for @Tsal :
The Nathan's Hotdog offers a savory symphony with a well-balanced blend of flavors. The beefy core delivers a robust, grilled essence, complemented by a subtle smokiness. The snap of the casing adds a satisfying texture, enhancing the overall experience. The interplay of mustard, ketchup, and relish contributes tanginess and sweetness, enhancing the savory profile. The bun, soft yet resilient, provides a comforting contrast. While the overall strength leans towards bold, it doesn't overpower the palate. A Nathan's Hotdog is a classic, delivering a timeless combination that satisfies the craving for a flavorful and well-crafted hotdog. Three and a half stars out of four.
You have to go the lobby in person. If you want one, tell me your size.
The Broad serves Nathan's Famous hot dogs. They make a big deal of it, as if I couldn't buy a pack at the supermarket. They are proud to offer Nathan's Famous. They cook them on rollers in the back. They always come out perfect, with the right amount of snap.
There is rarely a movie I want to see so I just sit at the bar and have a Pimm's cup and a hot dog while I read the Wall Street Journal. I might have a small popcorn as an appetizer if I am feeling particularly peckish. It is never busy while the movies are playing so I chitchat with the staff and whoever else wants a lunch of concession stand food.
Theater workers are only really busy between shows. Once the show starts, everyone who has bought a ticket is already settled in their seats being passively entertained for at least two hours.
I just get a plain hotdog. There is a condiment table across the lobby from the bar but I have never visited it. I am a simple man with simple tastes. The Nathan's Famous at the Broad Theater are better than the hotdogs at Costco. At Costco, I load up on condiments. At the Broad, I prefer my hotdog nude.
You cannot get a Pimm's Cup at Costco, though you can stand in the television section and watch a movie with the sound off. You get what you pay for.

Great story. I am a big fan of Hot Dogs just like any Northener. I really used to Enjoy going to an actual Nathan’s. We had one that was connected to a Baskin Robbins in town. They were also in every mall.Citizen B wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 1:14 pmI go to the Broad Theater. It is a four-screen movie theater in an old plumbing supply warehouse built in the 1920s. The sad part was that is was never worth going to. A Hot Dog there was as much as 2 packs. I really loved their Mini Corn Dog Nuggets. And their fries and onion rings are fantastic.
