It is very good. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes Virginia flakes. Nice, straightforward flavor with just a touch of aromatic flavor, quite subtle.

Yes , I like that one too . I snagged a tin a bit back and I think I have a couple flakes left . I went to reorder a few times since it was getting low and I havent seen it available . Could just be my timing . Its just the right amount of flavoring . Seeing you post about it makes me want to fill up a bowl of it

Okay, I already put some of this on another thread, but I guess this is the more appropriate place to post about new-to-me blends. I bought a few the other day and I'm slowly working my way through them.
First up was Mixture 79. I gotta say, I loved the smell of this stuff in the bag - it's got all sorts of things going on, but what I noticed most were the root beer, wintergreen, and chocolate/molasses notes. I found the rough cut easy to load, and the moisture was good. I've had a few very satisfying bowls of it and it may well become my favorite codger burley blend. The many flavorings are pleasant and not overpowering, and I get more burley notes than I expected based off the smell of the unburned tobacco. Some of those other flavors come through, certainly, but not so much that you can't taste the basic tobacco. I really like this blend. I think it would be appreciated by anyone who favors aromatic Lakeland style tobaccos - it's kinda like a Lakeland codger blend. As a burley-based, I need to be careful smoking it lest I torch my tongue, but I think I can get the hang of it. I noticed a little twinge of tightness in the throat, but again I think I just need to be careful with cadence and all will be well.
I've no idea why this is such a polarizing blend. It's very ole-timey, and I like it that way.

I totally get the lakelandish reference . Its like that in its own way . Its like any aromatic , really ... if you at least like the flavoring , then it has a good chance . Its like IRC three star blue , which is " unique " also

I have been curious about this one for some time. VaBur flake with black cavendish and a honey topping. That sounds good to me.

Next up is MacBaren Plum Cake. This one is going to take me so time to understand better. I was surprised by the bag note which had more latakia smokiness than I had expected. It's also got a vegetal character. I'm only three bowls into this and it definitely strikes me as a very traditional sort of blend, an old timer's kind of flavor profile. I get a lot of wood, specifically cedar, from the smoke. I'm sure there are other flavor nuances in there I'm not yet getting. It packs and burns fine, and I like the room note from what I can pick up smoking outside. This seems like more of a cold weather smoke than I typically would choose, but as the weather cools I'll keep working on it. So far, I am enjoying it.
